About the Role

In this role, you will perform technical planning, architecture standards definition, and continuously improve the design and implementation of architecture artifacts and processes, including governance bodies to support the architecture function within T. Rowe Price. You will assess the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. This role is ideal for a go-to resource who mentors colleagues with less experience and leads projects or work streams.

Responsibilities

  • Practice accountability for your work and sometimes the work of others, providing process and standards advice in your area of specialization.
  • Understand and advocate for Enterprise Architecture (EA) principles, articulating the value proposition of architecture to technology partners.
  • Manage and continuously improve the design and implementation of architecture processes and artifacts.
  • Ensure the firm’s projects engage architecture early and often on architecturally significant projects.
  • Review key design decisions with departmental architecture review boards.
  • Ensure decisions around architecture are made, and deviations from standards are properly identified, addressed, and communicated. Escalate issues to Principal Architects and Senior Managers as necessary.
  • Participate in and lead reviews of in-flight projects, working closely with technical leads to contribute solutions to challenging problems and being hands-on as needed.
  • Ensure all individual solution architecture artifacts and changes are documented per process standards and stored in T. Rowe Price’s EA Library to facilitate compliance, organization, and access.
  • Coordinate with other enterprise architects as necessary for solution architecture.
  • Take control of complex or vague problems, stepping through them in a rational way.
  • Balance tactical vs. strategic trade-offs when making decisions or proposing solutions.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in thinking, excelling at providing solutions when additional information or ideas are presented.
  • Mentor junior members of the team and make suggestions to improve practices.
  • Dedicate yourself to helping team members and improving team practices.

Business Knowledge

  • Work directly with business partners.
  • Make decisions focused on current and future business priorities, together with fiscal responsibility.
  • Articulate business needs and translate them into technology solutions.
  • Identify architectural weaknesses and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Possess in-depth technical knowledge and expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of total relevant work experience.
  • Up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, with the ability to comprehend their functions and capabilities and apply them appropriately.
  • Understands common architecture frameworks and models.
  • Understands and can apply meta-models, taxonomies, and ontologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the asset management industry.

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Schedule

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.

Pay

  • Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers: $121,000.00 - $206,000.00
  • Washington, D.C.: $133,000.00 - $227,000.00
  • New York, California: $151,000.00 - $258,000.00

Placement within the range is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, determined upon company and individual performance.
