Senior Architect, Software Engineering (Adobe - Commerce)
About the role
DEPT® is seeking a Commerce Architect to anchor Adobe Commerce delivery within our Commerce practice in North America. You will own Adobe Commerce Architecture, define standards, lead pre-sales and solutioning, integrate the commerce ecosystem, and advise and solve.
Responsibilities
Own Adobe Commerce Architecture: Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and performant and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
Define Standards and Lead Reviews: Enforce development standards, best practices, and coding patterns; lead technical design reviews and mentor development teams.
Lead Pre-Sales and Solutioning: Run technical discovery, architect viable solutions, develop technical proposals, Statements of Work, and present to client stakeholders including C-level executives.
Integrate the Commerce Ecosystem: Architect integrations across ERP, PIM, OMS, CRM, and payment gateways; connect Adobe Commerce to content (AEM) and personalization and data (AEP).
Serve as a Trusted Technical Advisor: Advise on performance, security, scalability, migrations, and total cost of ownership across new and existing Adobe Commerce implementations.
Requirements
Adobe Commerce Expertise: 7+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe Commerce (Magento), including 4 years in a Solution Architect or Lead Developer role.
Architectural Mastery: Proven track record of designing and delivering complex, large-scale eCommerce solutions.
Pre-Sales Experience: Demonstrable experience in pre-sales or solution-engineering capacity, including estimating effort and writing technical proposals.
Technical Acumen: Expert-level knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Varnish, Redis, and the core Adobe Commerce framework, and proficiency with modern DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
eCommerce Ecosystem: Strong understanding of the broader commerce ecosystem, including integrations with ERP, PIM, OMS, CRM, and payment gateways.
Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to build credibility with clients.
Qualifications
Adobe Certified Master – Adobe Commerce Architect (optional but preferred).
Experience with headless and composable commerce (GraphQL, PWA Studio) (optional).
Familiarity with other Adobe products such as AEM, Adobe Analytics, or AEP (optional).
A background in a digital agency or technology consultancy (optional).

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this position is $154,700—$170,000 USD based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. We are flexible and consider individual qualifications and experience.
