We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist with a proven track record of transforming research into scalable, real-world solutions. You will lead complex scientific initiatives, mentor junior scientists, and drive innovation on some of the most challenging problems in the industry. Responsibilities
- Own and drive the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of large-scale scientific systems
- Define and lead long-term technical roadmaps that align with Amazon Science's strategic goals
- Mentor and guide Applied Scientists, research interns, and cross-functional team members to elevate the overall technical excellence of the team
- Collaborate with senior Amazon scientists, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, define requirements, and deliver impactful solutions at scale
- Publish and present research findings internally and externally, contributing to Amazon's scientific reputation and thought leadership
- Independently identify novel research directions and translate them into production-level systems capable of handling massive datasets and solving previously unsolved problems
Basic qualifications
- PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field, or Master's degree and 6+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.
Pay
- USA, TN, Nashville: 158,800.00 - 214,800.00 USD annually
- USA, WA, Bellevue: 167,100.00 - 226,100.00 USD annually
