Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of large-scale scientific systems
  • Define and lead long-term technical roadmaps that align with Amazon Science's strategic goals
  • Mentor and guide Applied Scientists, research interns, and cross-functional team members to elevate the overall technical excellence of the team
  • Collaborate with senior Amazon scientists, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, define requirements, and deliver impactful solutions at scale
  • Publish and present research findings internally and externally, contributing to Amazon's scientific reputation and thought leadership
  • Independently identify novel research directions and translate them into production-level systems capable of handling massive datasets and solving previously unsolved problems

Basic qualifications

  • PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field, or Master's degree and 6+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl
  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
  • Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

Pay

  • USA, TN, Nashville: 158,800.00 - 214,800.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Bellevue: 167,100.00 - 226,100.00 USD annually
