Senior Applications Development (Government)
This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is located at the customer's site in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

Our AT&T National Security organization supports the Nation’s Intelligence Community, operating and assuring critical data, voice, video, and collaboration services for the full spectrum of intelligence operations.
This Senior Applications Developer role will be primarily focused on the design, development, testing, and maintenance of specialized applications to meet current and future customer mission requirements. The role requires expertise in full-stack application development and integration with multi-vendor applications, virtual environments, as well as the SIP protocol stack. The Senior Application Engineer will work in conjunction with a matrixed team of systems engineers, database administrators, and software developers to design, install, configure, implement, and maintain complex solutions that support the mission objectives of the customer.
Seeking a highly motivated individual who demonstrates effective decision-making and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and strong communication. The candidate should be comfortable working independently and with an integrated team to support customer objectives.
Responsibilities
- Software Development: Code and test new software applications to meet business requirements and user needs.
- Front-end – Design and develop user interfaces that facilitate user experience
- Backend – Develop server-side logic, create and manage databases, and integrate APIs with front-end
- Database Management – Design, implement, and maintain databases to store and retrieve data efficiently
- Application Maintenance and Performance Optimization: Maintain and update existing applications to fix bugs, improve performance, and ensure compatibility with new technologies.
- Requirement Analysis and Documentation: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements/user stories, creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
- Quality Assurance and Technical Support: Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing, providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
- Collaboration and Project Management: Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, managing development projects and staying updated with industry trends and technologies.
Requirements
Required Clearance: TS/SCI with polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college or university, a developer nanodegree, or equivalent work experience. Five (5) years of additional systems engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining application systems and solutions of similar scope, type, and complexity, including:
- Experience operating within Agile framework methodologies and the software development lifecycle – design, implementation, and deployment.
- Proficiency as a full-stack developer with experience in front-end and back-end languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SOAP and RESTful APIs, SQL, PHP, JSON, etc.
- Familiarity with or prior experience with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based real-time IP communication applications.
- Development and maintenance of communications-based solutions such as integration of real-time communication technologies (voice, video, messaging) and/or mobility applications.
- Experience architecting software solutions involving user interface (UI), data and database management, and server-side logic.
- Experience in building web applications and designing and integrating RESTful APIs to ensure data flow and communication exchange between applications and systems.
- Hands-on experience with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, including data schema design and data interactions to support applications.
- Experience working with source code version control systems to track coding revisions and support collaboration, such as Git.
- Familiarity with cyber-security best practices that ensure data integrity and security, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
- Strong analytical thinker and problem solver who can efficiently troubleshoot problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues.
- Familiarity with tools and methods for analyzing, debugging, and troubleshooting application issues, demonstrating ability to diagnose, resolve, and optimize applications using rigorous logic.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams within the Sponsor’s organization.
- Occasional travel to other Sponsor locations within the Washington Metro Area may be required.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning both on and off the job to keep current with technology and enhance skills.

- Experience or working knowledge of system virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud services and platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with administration of Linux/Unix systems (RedHat, Rocky, Debian, etc.).
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies.
- Familiarity with SIP protocol and communication application frameworks such as Asterisk.
- Firm understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and VoIP technologies and concepts.
Pay
Starting salary range: $98,100 - $228,600. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
