About the role

As a Senior Applications Administrator, you'll maintain and optimize critical infrastructure and applications, joining a collaborative team dedicated to supporting our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll manage complex enterprise systems, implement effective solutions, and ensure maximum system performance and reliability. This role provides hands-on, end-to-end operational support for laboratory instruments, instrument systems, software, and enterprise applications like LIMS and ELN.

  • Own day-to-day setup, maintenance, upgrades/patching, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring to keep systems stable with minimal downtime
  • Support change control and instrument/system validation activities
  • Work with advanced technologies across cloud and on-premises environments
  • Drive automation, improve processes, and contribute to digital transformation initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize critical infrastructure and applications
  • Manage complex enterprise systems and implement effective solutions
  • Ensure maximum system performance and reliability
  • Provide end-to-end operational support for laboratory instruments, systems, and software
  • Perform day-to-day setup, maintenance, upgrades/patching, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring
  • Support change control and instrument/system validation activities
  • Drive automation and process improvements
  • Occasionally attend out-of-standard working hours for escalation calls and project work

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields (advanced degree preferred)
  • In some cases, an equivalency of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience may be considered
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS & Linux) and virtualization technologies
  • Experience with Windows Server and operating systems administration
  • Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Shell)
  • Experience with incident management and problem-solving
  • Expert knowledge of three or more technology services (Server – Windows/Linux; Data Centers; Storage; Virtualization; Messaging; Global Operations Management; Citrix; Cloud platforms)

Environmental Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, clinical, and/or home office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment
  • For lab-based staff: exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
  • For lab-based staff: personal protective equipment required (e.g., protective eyewear, garments, gloves)
  • Occasional exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures
  • Standard work schedule (Monday–Friday)
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stationary for 6–8 hours per day
  • Repetitive hand movement with ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Frequent mobility required
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending, and twisting of upper body and neck
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects up to 15–20 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand

Location

Office-based in Richmond, VA. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and able to pass a comprehensive background check, including drug screening. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Pay

The salary range for this position based in Virginia is $75,800.00–$113,670.00. This position may also be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
