Senior Application Engineer

About The Role

The Sr. Application Engineer at Sulzer develops technical proposals for projects, including modifying standard designs and configuring design and costing tools. They work independently and provide technical responses to customers.

Essential Functions

• Screens customer inquiries to ensure complete information for quotations.
• Liaises with sales/customers to gather any missing information.
• Collects, understands, and interprets customer requirements for new and/or operating data from existing systems.
• Develops technical proposals and quotations, including equipment descriptions and specifications.
• Reviews and negotiates necessary technical revisions with customers.
• Responds to customer inquiries and issues, providing technical support or assistance.
• Upon customer order, reviews and approves the scope of supply and creates job files according to Sulzer specifications.
• Understands and provides solutions to large and/or complex problems.
• Requires independent judgment, initiative, and sound decision-making.

Secondary Functions

• Meets with customers on-site to review specifications, requirements, present proposals, and participate in project initiation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 3+ years' experience in design of biological wastewater treatment systems.
• 2+ years' experience in technical sales work with an understanding of interpreting customer requirements.
• Basic understanding of unit operations and wastewater analysis.
• Conceptual system aptitude.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivated and takes initiative.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Open to learning.
