About the role
Eaton’s ARS division is currently seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join our team. This role can be based at the Sumter, SC or Columbia, SC site. Relocation assistance and sign on bonus are available! The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 - $126,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
Responsibilities
- Order Management: Reconcile incoming orders using Eaton’s configuration tools, order systems, and sales/channel communications, ensuring manufacturing capability supports requested lead times. Verify completeness and accuracy of order entry information for incoming switchboard orders. Review released order details and coordinate with customer service for scheduling to defined lead times and manufacturing lines. Provide a complete and accurate clean order entry checklist to the front-end team. Manage all post-release order changes, including product substitutions and ship-short transactions. Interface with Quality and Warranty teams to support post-shipment customer needs.
- Documentation and Design Support: Create customer approval drawing packages for first-of-kind hyperscale/data center designs. Complete confirmation drawings for hyperscale/data center projects. Review customer configurations for dimensional, layout, and specification accuracy. Interface with Design Engineering to support development of custom switchboard designs. Interpret non-standard customer requirements and align them to established standards where possible.
- Material Coordination: Review bills of material for completeness and accuracy. Review complex wiring schemes to develop BOMs and material requisitions for advanced wiring devices. Prepare purchase requisitions for non-stock material items.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with manufacturing, project management, sales, and other disciplines to develop construction documentation sets. Conduct technical training for front-end switchboard team members. Attend project kick-off meetings, coordination calls, drawing reviews, and witness testing as a subject matter expert. Contact field sales to ensure accurate interpretation of customer specifications and requirements. Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products. Participate in cross-functional teams to support Lean manufacturing and front-end process improvements.
Qualifications
- Required (Basic): Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institutionMinimum 18 months of engineering experience within a manufacturing facility
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institutionExperience with AutoCAD softwareExperience with Eaton systems: VISTA, Bid Manager, AS-400, ENOVIA & DMMDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)Demonstrated technical and application knowledge of switchboardsDemonstrated proficiency in verbal & written communications, organizational & computer skills
