About the Role
Aprio Advisory Group, LLC is a progressive, fast-growing firm seeking a Senior Application Developer to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for analysis and design, scope documentation, development, testing, training, implementation, maintenance, and support of assigned applications. You may also create, configure, monitor, and support web server architecture, including upgrades and modifications for performance tuning, load balancing, and log management.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an effort to learn about all business functions supported by assigned applications, becoming an IT expert in each business area.
- Mentor and coach the development of staff.
- Understand and demonstrate project management leadership skills, including delegating work and providing follow-through.
- Understand the economics of projects (cost of development compared with value obtained).
- Assist in project prioritization by interviewing requestors, creating high-level project descriptions, estimating planned hours, and entering details into tracking tools.
- Create project Scope and Requirements documentation (internal projects) or Statements of Work (external projects).
- Deliver, follow up, and modify Scope and Requirements or Statements of Work until approved or cancelled.
- Design, program/develop, and modify software systems, applications, and tools.
- Lead the technical consultative process between users and IT staff to identify problems, configure system processes, and enhance or develop system functions.
- Remain flexible with changes in deadlines and unexpected assignments.
- Communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Manage external client relationships, including project status updates, Statement of Work preparation, client testing, implementation planning, and approval.
- Keep shareholders informed of situations, risks, or incidents in a timely manner.
- Support assigned applications by completing Help Desk tickets, correcting bugs, creating projects for new requests, and documenting corrective actions.
- Enter or assist users in entering Help Desk tickets and development projects into tracking tools.
- Develop application changes using approved software languages and tools.
- Work with users and Quality Assurance personnel to complete testing iterations until approval.
- Create or assist with user documentation and marketing details.
- Document newly discovered technical knowledge and share it with the team.
- Stay current with technical knowledge of new and changing technologies and bring suggestions to the team.
- Comply with the firm’s policies, procedures, and work rules.
- Work hours necessary to meet deadlines.
- Perform various other tasks as assigned that may fall outside the scope of this job description.
Requirements
- Ten or more (10+) years of progressively complex application development experience.
- Experience with relational database design.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: Eclipse, Java, JavaScript, HTML, Linux, Apache Tomcat, Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services, SharePoint, Crystal Reports, GeneXus™, IBM System i CL, RPG II, III, or ILE.
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree with a major in IT, Accounting, or a related business field.
- Experience creating and utilizing web services.
- Experience with performance tuning and load balancing techniques.
- Experience with successful user interface design for web applications.
- Experience with security best practices for application development.
Work Environment
- Occasional same-day travel for work at client’s offices, meetings, and seminars.
- Occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stays.
- Increased workload during certain times of the year.
