Senior Application Developer

About the Role
Application developers oversee the entire life cycle of a software application, creating the design, coding it, and testing the product for functionality and errors, while ensuring that user needs, performance requirements, and security standards are met. This role will manage projects, help teammates with managing projects, and collaborate with stakeholders across the company.
Responsibilities
- Writing clean and efficient code and conducting rigorous testing
- Investigating for errors and analyzing an application's execution flow with debugging
- Creating design plans and coding and testing for project implementation
- Ensuring application software is delivered on time and within budget
- Guiding and mentoring junior developers with projects
- Actively contributing to troubleshooting and optimizing application performance
- Providing architectural insights
- Emphasizing innovation and continuous learning
- Taking responsibility for their actions and showing initiative for new projects
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relative field
- 5+ years’ work experience in application development or a relative field
- Strong background in COBOL, JCL, HPUX, HP3000, and UNIX
- Experience with insurance and policy administration systems are preferred
- Ability to lead and manage with minimal supervision
- Adaptability with sound judgment and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
