Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Application Developer to design, develop, modernize, and maintain enterprise Java applications supporting the IRS Common API Services (CAS) modernization initiative. The successful candidate will develop secure, scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, and modern API technologies while supporting cloud-native application modernization and enterprise integration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, and REST APIs.
  • Develop scalable microservices and modern application components supporting enterprise integration.
  • Modernize legacy applications into cloud-ready Java and OpenShift-based solutions.
  • Design and implement secure application architectures following enterprise development standards.
  • Develop API interfaces, application configurations, technical documentation, and deployment artifacts.
  • Perform unit testing, developer validation, debugging, and defect remediation throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with architects, integration engineers, and Government stakeholders to deliver modernization initiatives.
  • Support application deployments, release management, and production troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, interface specifications, release notes, and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure software quality, performance, and maintainability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices-based applications.
  • Strong experience with ReactJS or similar modern front-end frameworks.
  • Experience developing applications for OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and modern application architecture.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting application issues and supporting production environments.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience modernizing legacy Java applications into cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience supporting enterprise API platforms and integration services.
  • Familiarity with IBM webMethods integration environments.
  • Experience with OpenShift Enterprise Container Platform (ECP).
  • Knowledge of AppDynamics, ELK Stack, and application performance monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government or large enterprise software development projects.
