About the role
The Credit Ratings team is an integral part of the Global Ratings Services team, comprising a diverse group of 1,400 analysts spread across key financial hubs worldwide. We deliver high-quality insights and exceptional client service across all industry sectors.
The successful candidate will join S&P Global Ratings’ Sovereign and International Public Finance (IPF) ratings team, working closely with the Chief Analytical Officer, Head of Sovereign and Multilateral Institutions Ratings, Sector Leads, and Chairs of the Global, Sovereign, and regional IPF “Analytical Oversight and Consistency Councils” (AOCCs). The team manages high-profile government and public sector-related credits, including multilateral financial institutions. It assigns and monitors ratings, maintains high-quality analytical work, communicates with the market and stakeholders, and ensures consistency of ratings across different asset classes. The team operates in a strong collegial, collaborative environment, providing exposure to senior stakeholders globally.

Responsibilities
Team Contribution & Capability Building
- Provide day-to-day guidance and coaching to Research Assistants and Rating Analysts, building capability in credit, data discipline, and tooling while reinforcing values-led behaviors.
- Drive consistency and scalability by codifying standard work and promoting disciplined adoption to strengthen trusted, repeatable insights.
- Strengthen AI-enabled productivity by creating reusable assets and proposing lightweight automations that free capacity for human analysis and relationship work.
- Foster continuous improvement by proposing enhancements that remove manual steps without compromising governance or judgment.
- Partner with senior team members and Data/Engineering to identify and scale AI/automation use cases with governance-by-design, controls, and adoption support.
Core Analytical & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end execution for assigned credits, ensuring high-quality analysis and timely delivery across priorities with clear accountability.
- Own surveillance and updates for an assigned portfolio, synthesizing performance, market signals, and peer context into decision-useful insights and clear risk implications.
- Support LLM tools and automation embedded in workflows, followed by structured validation and refinement using analytical judgment to maintain trusted conclusions.
- Operate alongside AI agents in recurring workflows, preparing and reviewing inputs, reconciling metrics, and documenting assumptions/changes to ensure adherence to methodologies and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare and review key outputs, ensuring clarity and alignment with methodology, sector frameworks, and evidentiary standards.
- Support maintenance and review of models to ensure robustness, repeatability, and clear linkage to risk views.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Engage with external parties alongside senior team members, crafting client- and executive-ready narratives that translate complex data and analysis into clear stories.
- Advise on issues within clear parameters, integrating and communicating complex information to convey S&P’s analytical expertise and drive engagement with market participants.
- Build trusted stakeholder relationships through emotionally intelligent, collaborative, and adaptable delivery.
Risk Management and Operating
- Ensure adherence to methodology, confidentiality, and data governance; escalate issues early with options and recommendations to protect integrity and trust.
- Embed responsible, governed AI use: approved tools/data only; protect confidential information.
- Drive controlled automation and agentic workflows by contributing to design requirements, controls, supporting testing and rollout, and training others.
- Support decisions relating to guardrails for automation, defining what can be automated vs. what must remain human-led (especially material risk calls and committee conclusions).
Requirements
- Coordinator for the Global, Sovereign & regional IPF AOCCs, supporting AOCC chairs and regional sector leads on governance and projects, including planning, presentation, facilitation, and documentation of deliverables.
- Support for the Chief Analytical Officer and Head of Sovereign and Multilateral Institutions Ratings on research projects and initiatives, including contributions to flagship publications and global research under sector leads.
- Support for planning, execution, and monitoring of projects to enhance analytical quality and market impact.
- Strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database applications.

Qualifications
- Typically, three to five years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; a master’s degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued.
- Candidates from traditional finance disciplines or diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking are welcome.
Schedule
Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
Pay
For US candidates, the anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000 USD to $128,000 USD. Final base salary will be based on geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan.
