About the role

The Senior Analyst: Quality Control leads the design, development, maintenance, and execution of QC plans, test scenarios, and test cases for a variety of IT systems. This role guides and coordinates all project QC tasks, assists with test environment administration, and helps maintain and evolve the QC strategy and related processes.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document test plans, identify test stages and techniques, and guide project teams and users throughout execution.
  • Administer test environments and coordinate with Desktops and Operations departments.
  • Deliver high-quality end-user support, including training on test tools.
  • Maintain metrics on QC processes and results.
  • Author and maintain documentation of QC guidelines and processes.
  • Provide inputs on QC activities to project managers for project plans and status reporting.
  • Develop accurate duration/effort estimates for QC activities and deliver to timelines.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment using Agile and DevOps principles.
  • Review documentation, communicate findings, and support resolution.
  • Analyze and decompose requirements and design documentation to determine test points and scenarios.
  • Develop, run, maintain, and manage manual functional test cases to validate requirements.
  • Partner with project teams to verify defect fixes and conduct regression testing.
  • Interface with QC Automation Engineers to clarify requirements, provide test case information, and address test environment needs.
  • Administer deviation management systems and test case repositories.
  • Execute automated functional test cases as needed.
  • Assist with yearly forecasting activities, including providing level-of-effort estimates for project proposals.
  • Interface with software support and maintenance vendors to resolve issues and leverage tool capabilities.
  • Perform workflow analysis and recommend process improvements and team development opportunities.
  • Identify alternatives to avoid potential problems and increase the probability of desired outcomes.
  • Communicate resource needs to QC leadership.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to junior QC analysts.
  • Assist in developing RFP/RFI documentation for vendor selection and contribute to vendor analysis and recommendations.
  • Participate in the interview process for open positions.
  • Ensure requirements traceability from high-level requirements to test cases.
  • Identify, communicate, and track system deviations and quality metrics to facilitate resolution and help stakeholders understand risk.
  • Deliver clear, correct, factual, and timely written and oral communications using non-technical language where possible.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and complete status reporting to stakeholders and managers.
  • Maintain proactive working relationships with other teams within IT and the business.
  • Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning, execution, and management, including environment preparation and test tool support.
  • Promote open and transparent communication between business support teams and fee-earning employees.
  • Anticipate obstacles in planning and adjust accordingly.
  • Interface with project team members, including Business Analysts and SMEs, to confirm project scope, requirements, and test data needs.
  • Encourage team members to provide continuous feedback and share information openly.
  • Notify QC leadership and project managers if deliverables are at risk or critical issues arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a software QC role with broad experience in creating and maintaining test cases for various applications (e.g., SaaS, Client/Server, Mobile, and Hosted).
  • Prior experience writing project test plans and assisting with overall QC strategy for an organization.
  • Experience interpreting use cases, design, and functional specifications while providing QC-relevant feedback.
  • Experience managing test case repositories, organizing test cases for execution, and leveraging best practices in test case construction and execution.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products.
  • Demonstrated diversity in successfully planning and executing QC activities across various technologies and projects, including Enterprise Business Intelligence powered by Data Warehouses/Lakes.
  • Ability to perform general mathematical calculations to support test case construction, business cases, budgets, and metrics.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams products.
  • Understanding of relational database theory and experience using SQL for verification activities.
  • Knowledge of Azure AD, AD, and InTune features/concepts such as GPOs.
  • Experience using Virtualization Technology (e.g., VMware, Client/Server Snapshots, and Cloning) as part of a test environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a broad set of quality control techniques and methods (e.g., White Box, Black Box, Boundary Value, Parallel, Risk-Based).
  • Proven experience using contemporary testing tools (e.g., OpenText AQM, Azure DevOps, JIRA, IBM ETM), including defect tracking tools.
  • Experience using relevant Windows operating system tools for verification activities.
  • Strong understanding of QC principles, QC processes, and the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Proficiency with Generative AI tools (e.g., Harvey, CoPilot, ChatGPT, Gemini) to accelerate and improve test case development, test planning, research, and troubleshooting (preferred).
  • Power BI experience, including Power Query and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively at all levels of the firm and with outside vendors.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and support the demanding needs of the firm.

Pay

The typical pay scale for this position is between USD $101,600.00/Yr. and USD $134,300.00/Yr., although the actual wage or salary may vary based on the candidate's education, experience, skills, and internal pay alignment.
