About the role
The Senior Analyst, National Business Development serves as a strategic partner to the Business Development organization by delivering data-driven insights, process improvements, and technology-enabled solutions that support growth objectives. This role analyzes business trends, identifies opportunities and risks, and translates complex data into actionable recommendations that influence decision-making. The Senior Analyst leads projects from discovery through execution, develops scalable reporting and analytical frameworks, and supports automation, API, and AI-driven initiatives. In addition to serving as a technical resource, this individual mentors team members, fosters collaboration, and drives continuous improvement across the department. Success in this role requires a blend of business acumen, analytical expertise, project leadership, and a passion for innovation.
Responsibilities
- Analyst: Understands business needs and provides relevant information and insight to support functional objectives. Analyzes variables to identify trends, opportunities, issues and risks, and/or probable solutions to problems and situations for specific business areas. Participates in design of solutions. Owns data collection/feature engineering process and can identify anomalies that may impact results of analysis. Recommends alternative paths forward on projects when necessary. Effectively communicates pros and cons of project alternatives. Demonstrates ability to interpret model results and make connection to expected impact on business.
- Consultant: Provides expertise, knowledge, and insight to help the business improve their performance and grow by solving problems and finding new and better ways of doing things. Serves as a catalyst for change. Supports documentation of requirements and development of project artifacts. Helps in development of project communication and presentation materials. Executes on implementation strategies and escalates risks or concerns. Actively participates in project requirement sessions, communicating ideas/risks/concerns to key stakeholders.
- Mentor: Acts as a leader within the department by directing activities, promoting successes, improving upon failures, and building competency throughout the department. Develops team members to build upon strengths and decrease weaknesses in individual performance and maintain positive team dynamics. Acts as a mentor to analysts. Contributes to a positive work environment. Assists in building unity across team.
- Operator: Executes on a plan of action within the expected timeframe and delivers expected results. Demonstrates commitment, responsiveness, and competence to the business and team. Responsible for the identification and execution of tasks required by the project plan. Supports department in creation of project deliverables and effectively communicates results to external parties. Caters communication for appropriateness across audiences. Increases accuracy in estimating time and effort to complete assigned tasks. Committed to setting and meeting deadlines, even if it requires working longer hours. Checks work for quality and precision without being asked. Actively escalates unforeseen issues with agreed upon path forward.
- Technical Expert: Maintains up-to-date knowledge in area of expertise through proactive research and continuing education so as to achieve functional objectives. Intermediate to advanced coding skillset in VBA, PowerBI, Reporting Services, iMacros, and SQL. Able to read in text files or csv, as well as source data directly from relational databases. High level of comfort in utilizing supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. Takes ownership of work product and personal development.

- Bachelor’s degree in analytics, business, insurance, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the insurance or adjacent industry.
- Experience building insights, reports, or dashboards that inform business decisions.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with Power BI or similar tools.
- Exposure to AI-enabled analytics, automation, or Microsoft Copilot.

Pay
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The national average salary range for the Senior Analyst, Business Development is $78,000 - $107,250 with 15% incentive.
