About the Role

This position involves sheet metal installation, manufacturing parts, and administrative tasks in the aerospace industry. The role is primarily focused on installing sheet metal parts and assemblies in aircraft, with additional responsibilities in manufacturing and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Read detailed plans and diagrams and inspect and measure parts prior to assembly to ensure they are free of defects and correctly sized.
  • Install sheet metal parts and assemblies in aircraft, ensuring installations do not endanger aircraft structure or systems operations.
  • Cut, grind, or trim parts to ensure proper fit.
  • Use tools such as drills, grinders, and rivet guns to assemble helicopters and parts.
  • Fit and assemble skins, frames, and other components, including drilling, fitting, and riveting sub-assemblies like tail booms and stabilizers.
  • Follow engineering instructions and company policies.
  • Make adjustments or replace parts as needed.
  • Assist in developing patterns or templates to simplify manufacturing processes and ensure proper dimensions.
  • Work with inspectors to test assembled parts for proper assembly.
  • Cut, file, drill, and ream metal, plastic, and rubber sections to prepare them for fastening.
  • Perform layout of sheet parts by measuring and marking for cutting and forming operations.
  • Cut raw materials, accounting for bend requirements, flanges, and crimping.
  • Bolt, rivet, or chemically bond parts together.
  • Follow all OSHA safety and environmental regulations.
  • Use SAP for time charging and manage PTB and VAC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience in the aerospace industry as a sheet metal technician or assembly technician. Some experience may be substituted for education typically acquired in attaining an A&P license or a degree directly related to aircraft sheet metal or composites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade school or basic manufacturing skills classes.
  • Experience with blueprint reading and composites.
