About the role
The Senior Agile Scrum Product Owner – Platform & Portal Services supports PeopleTec’s Huntsville, AL location. They lead the vision, strategy, roadmap, and Product Backlog for the Platform & Portal Services product, which provides a secure, scalable, multi-tenant foundation for hybrid multi-cloud, multi-network digital engineering ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Own and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and strategic direction for the Platform & Portal Services product.
- Develop, maintain, prioritize, and continuously refine the Product Backlog.
- Translate customer and stakeholder needs into well-defined Epics, Features, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.
- Collaborate with Product Management, stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to maximize business and mission value.
- Define and evolve platform capabilities supporting: multi-tenant platform services, organization portals, platform access experiences, user and organization onboarding, role-based access concepts, custom approval workflows.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure user stories are technically feasible, testable, and aligned with architectural direction.
- Balance customer needs, technical debt, security enhancements, architectural improvements, and operational priorities when managing the Product Backlog.
- Participate in Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives, and Product Demonstrations.
- Accept completed work based upon established Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done.
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters to ensure healthy backlog management, sprint readiness, and predictable product delivery.
- Engage regularly with customers and stakeholders to gather feedback, validate priorities, and refine product direction.
- Measure product success through customer value, operational effectiveness, adoption, and business outcomes.
- Champion Agile principles and continuous improvement across the product team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience serving as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar product leadership role within Agile Scrum environments.
- Demonstrated success owning complex enterprise software or platform products.
- Expert knowledge of Agile Scrum principles and Product Ownership responsibilities.
- Extensive experience creating and managing Product Vision, Product Roadmaps, Product Backlogs, Epics, Features, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.
- Experience working directly with highly technical engineering teams.
- Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Travel: 10 %
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire (or the ability to obtain), and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment. Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- Working understanding of enterprise platforms, hybrid multi-cloud architectures, platform engineering, multi-tenant application architectures, enterprise portals, APIs and system integrations, containerized applications, Kubernetes, DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, identity & access concepts, role-based access control (RBAC), authentication and authorization, user provisioning concepts, least privilege principles, zero trust concepts, enterprise applications, workflow automation, business process orchestration, custom web application development, RESTful APIs, enterprise application integration.
Skills
- Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO I or II)
- SaFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM)
- Experience supporting DoD, Federal Government, or highly regulated environments.
- Experience with Platform Engineering organizations.
- Experience with enterprise portal products.
- Experience working with cloud-native platforms.
- Familiarity with NIST RMF and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience working within Digital Engineering or Digital Test Environment ecosystems.
- Strategic thinker capable of defining long-term product vision.
- Strong customer advocate with a passion for delivering business value.
- Comfortable working with highly technical engineering organizations.
- Excellent communicator capable of translating business needs into actionable engineering work.
