Senior Advisor - Mine Planning
About the role
Help shape mid- and long-range mine plans that unlock the value of the Bingham Canyon resource
Collaborate across mining, processing, and planning teams to support safe, integrated decision-making
Responsibilities
- Contribute to integrated mine plans and strategies that support the full value chain, from mining and processing through to refining, while helping maximize the long-term value of the Bingham Canyon resource
- Develop optimized mine designs, production schedules, and planning scenarios
- Support annual, mid-range, and life-of-mine planning activities, including production forecasts and planning assumptions
- Develop material movement strategies, fleet requirements, and capital and operating cost estimates to support business planning
- Partner with Geology, Geotechnical, Hydrology, and Operations teams to build safe, practical, and value-driven mine plans
- Collaborate across the value chain, including Concentrator, Tailings, Smelter, Refinery, and Production Support teams, to align operational constraints and business requirements
- Monitor planning activities, identify risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations that support business objectives
- Communicate mine plans, planning outcomes, and technical concepts clearly to operational and technical stakeholders
- Develop mine and waste dump plans that balance long-term value creation with short-term operational commitments
Requirements
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- 4+ years of experience in mine planning within large-scale open pit mining operations, complex mining environments, or integrated production value chains
- A strong understanding of mine planning, mine design, production scheduling, and mining principles
- Experience using mine planning, design, or scheduling tools; experience with MinePlan 3D, Deswik, MPSO, COMET, or similar platforms will be highly valued
- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
