About the role
The Senior Advisor for Strategic Communications & Public Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance public engagement and communication efforts within the department.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans to improve public understanding and support for department initiatives.
- Manage and coordinate internal and external communications activities, including press releases, media relations, and community outreach programs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment across all communications channels.
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with experience in creating compelling content for various audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience managing and leading teams, and strong organizational and project management skills.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of successful public engagement and communication campaigns.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
