Senior Advanced Project Engineer
About the role
Lead end-to-end development and launch of complex engineering projects that combine hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical engineering for the FIRE portfolio within Building Automation Strategic Business Group. You will report directly to the Engineering Program Management Director and work out of our Atlanta, GA or Northford, CT location on a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Lead 3-4 concurrent global new product introduction programs, overseeing integrated hardware, firmware, and/or software, and/or mechanical product development using Agile methodology.
- Develop and maintain project release roadmaps, schedules, and budgets using MS Project or SmartSheets, ensuring delivery within defined scope, cost, and time targets.
- Direct multi-disciplinary cross-functional engineering and operations teams (10-15+ team members across multiple sites), ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely execution.
- Define program scope and manage change control, including negotiations with stakeholders on program contracts and scope variations.
- Drive commercialization success, ensuring products target revenue, cost, and business objectives while balancing technical feasibility.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively, while capitalizing on opportunities to improve program outcomes.
- Work with integrated supply chain teams and manufacturing, ensuring readiness for production and successful design transfer into factory processes.
- Report program status to senior leadership, providing clear updates on milestones, risks, and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with Honeywell's product development process and tools and continuous improvement practices, applying structured problem-solving to strengthen program results.
- Collaborate with commercial teams and, when required, engage directly with customers to align technical execution with business needs.
Requirements
You must have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, and engineering.
- 5+ years of program or project management experience managing complex engineering projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- 3+ years of product development experience with hardware/software integrated products and global development teams.
- Strong knowledge of engineering product development principles and project management methodologies.
- Proficiency with MS Project tool, including ability to create and maintain complex schedules, project plans, and updates.
