About the role

The Admitting Representative works under the supervision of the Patient Access Services Manager. Their responsibilities include greeting patients, patient identification, check-in, patient registration, and coordinating escorts upon arrival for services. The registration process involves gathering demographic and financial information and entering it into the computer system quickly and accurately. Duties also include cash collection and posting as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and perform patient identification
  • Check-in patients and coordinate escorts
  • Enter demographic and financial information into the computer system
  • Cash collect and post as needed
  • Provide superior customer service and maintain professional conduct
  • Utilize various hospital information systems to communicate with patients and visitors
  • Effectively respond to inquiries
  • Comply with all Medical Center Policies and Procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills
  • Prior experience in healthcare, insurance-related, or comparable level
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Basic PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, typing 30 wpm
  • Articulate and concise oral communication and the ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Experience in hospital registration and/or admission procedures preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Knowledge of government program regulations, Medicare, MIA, CCS, and other third-party payors preferred
