About the role

Seeking a professional, detail-oriented, and energetic person to support the domestic and international graduate admissions and enrollment goals of the university. Working closely with numerous staff and faculty across all UAH colleges, this Senior Admissions Counselor, Graduate Processing, will be responsible for fostering relationships with prospective students and guiding them from admissions inquiry through enrollment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with units across campus and leads the Admissions Operations team to achieve the university's goals regarding an assigned priority.
  • Develops goals and strategies that drive graduate application growth and support the goal of yielding qualified students throughout the enrollment process.
  • Collaborates extensively with the Assistant Director of Enrollment Information Systems on data integrity, the efficiency of automated enrollment processes, application updates, the student web front-end user experience, online forms, and more.
  • Manages the domestic and international graduate admissions application review and decision processes and provides support to faculty application reviewers and other campus partners.
  • Supports more than 50 graduate faculty application reviewers in UAH academic colleges.
  • Create and maintain student records, enter and validate data in multiple databases.
  • Maintain application data integrity by inspecting student records and applications for accuracy and authenticity and creating and executing integral data cleansing processes.
  • Counsel prospective graduate students and families about application requirements and criteria, UAH academic programs, admission policies, and procedures.
  • Host individual consultations with prospective students in person and virtually.
  • Follow up, track, communicate, and record detailed notes of interactions with students from the point of admissions inquiry to enrollment.
  • Track recruiting efforts, generate, and analyze reports to better manage the enrollment processes and provide regular updates to the Director of Admissions Operations and academic department chairs.
  • Verify and evaluate foreign academic credentials, including international GPA's, financial and immigration documents.
  • Aid in the development, planning, and execution of domestic and international graduate recruitment strategies.
  • Interpret and transmit information to students, counselors, contracted agents, university administrators, and academic units with high-quality customer service.
  • Participate in the hiring, training, and coordination of the work of assigned work-study students or student employees and directs according to established standards; prioritize, assign, review, and coordinate work; assist with complex or problem situations and provide direction.
  • Works closely with the Director of Admissions Operations in the development of training procedures and manuals for admissions staff and faculty application reviewers regarding graduate admissions requirements and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
  • 1-3 years of full-time, verifiable work experience in admissions or other student services programs
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and database management skills
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with multiple team members
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends is required
