About the role
The St. Johns County Division of Animal Control is looking for a dedicated, organized, and experienced Senior Administrative Coordinator to join the team at the St. Johns County Pet Adoption and Holding Center in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. This role provides direct administrative support to the Deputy Director of Animal Control, coordinates schedules and meetings, prepares reports and presentations, assists with budgeting and purchasing, coordinates vendors and administrative systems, and supports division projects and staff. Responsibilities
- Provides routine and complex administrative support to the director (may include but is not limited to travel arrangements, scheduling, agenda packets, attending meetings, drafting correspondence, developing presentations and reports).
- Coordinates the administrative function of the Department (may include but is not limited to accounts payable/receivable, budget preparation, procurement bids, vendor change orders).
- Coordinates and oversees support for countywide database systems (may include but is not limited to payroll, human resources employee personnel action changes, PAN, PRIDE, WATS, work orders, mass notification systems).
- Handles inquiries, complaints, and requests; tracks issues and resolutions and provides assistance regarding specific matters within area of expertise in resolving complex inquiries and complaints.
- Coordinates operating function of office (may include but is not limited to inventories, general office management, or equipment).
- Assists department senior leadership with confidential/sensitive materials related to political issues, personnel matters, and/or criminal records or other sensitive issues requiring a high degree of judgement, tact, and diplomacy.
- Maintains and interprets current information of department policies and programs.
- Researches, reviews, gathers, compiles, and maintains detailed and specialized information for reports and department work processes.
- May attend informational meetings with other department heads and county staff.
- May lead or supervise other departmental administrative support staff.
- Maintains full-time presence on the job.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification.
- Minimum of three years of responsible administrative work experience supporting upper-level senior management.
- Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certificate or Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) certificate is preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
- Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.
- Must be able to comprehend, speak, and write the English language.
- Must be able to operate a computer.

Environmental Demands

- Physical Activity may include sitting, walking, lifting heavy objects up to 25 lbs, kneeling, crouching, reaching, or standing.
Pay
$49,712.00 - $66,393.60 annually
