Job Summary
With minimal supervision and direction, the Senior Administrative Assistant I position provides advanced secretarial support to administrative personnel. Using independent judgment, this position coordinates the details of the office to which assigned and may direct the work of clerical or student employees.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related area, including business courses.
- General clerical skills including accuracy in basic math, filing, proofreading, typing, spelling and data entry.
- Ability to understand and operate appropriate office equipment, including personal computers and working knowledge of department-specific software.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication skills with an ability to relate to staff, students, and members of the community.
- Must possess ability to analyze and prioritize supervisor’s schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related area.
- Working knowledge of EMS scheduling and Colleague products.

Work Hours
40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year; M-F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Salary
Pay range is $22.58-$24.12 per hour
Job Duties
- Prepares material from concepts or rough draft to final form (letters, memos, manuscripts, tables, charts, etc.), using correct sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Drafts forms, composes form letters, and compiles factual reports which require exercise of judgment, originality, and computational skills.
- Requests, gathers, organizes, and/or provides factual information, requiring reference to a variety of sources.
- Screens mail and selects correspondence which may be handled by other than immediate supervisor(s), exercising judgment regarding priorities.
- Maintains record keeping and/or filing systems (including computer files).
- Makes appointments for supervisor(s), exercising judgment regarding priorities.
- Makes travel arrangements for supervisor(s).
- Arranges for meetings and conferences and takes minutes as required.
- Maintains and monitors appropriate budget records.
- As required, trains and directs the work of other clerical and/or student employees, maintains schedule for office coverage.
- As required, coordinates the functions of the offices(s) to which assigned.
- As required, initiates the selection process and recommends student employees for hire.
- Directs concerns of students, faculty, staff, administrators, or community members to the appropriate administrative personnel.
- Independently prepares appropriate reports, letters, and memos.
- Attends committee and other meetings as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
