About the role

The position serves as professional and administrative support to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Michigan Technological University. This includes supporting prospective students and families through application management, administrative tasks, and campus collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Upload application materials and release admissions decisions.
  • Manage duplicate applications and process applications for dual enrollment, non-degree seeking/guest, and post-degree certificates.
  • Manage all admissions admittance and deposit mailing projects for first-year and transfer students.
  • Assist and troubleshoot prospective students' login information.
  • Provide administrative support for financial transactions including check requests, reallocations, purchase requisitions, use charges, invoices, and deposits.
  • Answer main admissions phone lines and respond to general Admissions email.
  • Coordinate the payroll process and EPAF data entry.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and assist with supply orders.
  • Assist with the supervision of front desk students and assign them projects as needed.
  • Assist at large-scale on-campus recruitment events and logistics of the Michigan Tech College Fair.
  • Interact with administrative units including academic departments, Dean of Students, Financial Aid, Registrars, Payroll Services, and Graduate School.
  • Stay current with Michigan Tech news, events, facts, figures, degree programs, and related institutional information.
  • Engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years experience in clerical or administrative support.
  • 3 years experience using personal computers and basic software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • 3 years experience in a customer service setting.

Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with databases or CRM systems such as Banner, Slate, and ticketing software.
  • Experience working in high school setting or higher education.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under conditions with frequent interruptions and meet established deadlines.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical CRM software and computer-based applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively adapt to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and communicate across cultural boundaries.
  • Ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information.
