Senior ADAS Test Engineer II

About the Role

The Senior ADAS Test Engineer will coordinate and execute testing and development tasks essential for departmental and organizational goals. This role involves collaborating with teams in Japan, international engineering teams, and external partners to ensure alignment in developing ADAS software technologies. The position oversees specific ADAS technologies, including development, validation, and testing within projects, ensuring successful integration of advanced driver-assistance systems while meeting high-quality standards and exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Develop Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) control software functions and tune vehicle control systems.
• Create functional software requirements related to CAN interface, Self-Diagnostic, and Failsafe Detection for vehicle development.
• Coordinate with system suppliers to integrate functions into the vehicle and verify their performance.
• Perform project management activities, including overseeing vehicle system testing and negotiating hardware/software interfaces.
• Instrument and troubleshoot vehicles for testing, analyze test data, recommend solutions for failures, and determine root causes.
• Manage development projects and schedules, coordinate with departments and suppliers, and research new technologies and market trends.
• Create and present technical documents and reports, including comprehensive root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Controls Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in the industry.
• Comprehensive understanding of vehicle dynamics, steering control functions, and experience tuning vehicle control systems.
• Knowledge of requirements management, function validation, diagnostics, and CAN structures.
• Hands-on mechanical ability and understanding of vehicle systems.
• Analytical skills to prepare prototype vehicles for testing and troubleshoot system issues.
• Valid driver’s license required to operate vehicles on proving grounds.
• Proficiency in PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CANalyzer, CANape, and other technical software).
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to proactively seek information and convert concepts into requirements.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with data acquisition systems and Vector CAN tools.
• Understanding of electrical hardware fundamentals and software development processes.
• Strong presentation skills.

Schedule

This is an onsite job. One remote workday per week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
