Job Responsibilities
- Lead pricing analyses for assigned Commercial Professional Lines, including the development of rate indications, pricing tools, and portfolio insights to support profitable growth and pricing strategies.
- Evaluate and support new business opportunities, including research, modeling, and pricing framework development for emerging or expanding lines of business.
- Partner closely with Underwriting, Claims, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure pricing strategies appropriately reflect risk characteristics and market dynamics.
- Clearly communicate actuarial findings and recommendations to both actuarial and non-actuarial audiences, including senior leadership, and adapt analyses as needed based on stakeholder feedback.
- Present results and recommendations in meetings, ensuring alignment and clarity across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide guidance to non-actuarial partners on actuarial principles, methodologies, and key assumptions driving pricing decisions.
- Contribute to and lead cross-functional initiatives, representing the Actuarial function in broader business projects.
- Support the development of junior staff by reinforcing actuarial best practices and aligning work with corporate goals and standards.
Education & Skillset
- A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in mathematics, statistics, or related analytical field.
- ACAS certification required; FCAS certification preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of actuarial experience, with a strong emphasis on Commercial Lines pricing required.
- Demonstrated experience in Professional Lines products (e.g., E&O, D&O, EPLI) strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and manage projects, including prioritization, resource coordination, and delivery against deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with Underwriting and other business partners.
- Proven ability to clearly articulate and defend actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and conclusions.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to balance technical rigor and practical business judgment.
- Experience working in cross-functional environments and driving alignment across stakeholders.
- Ability to balance creativity with sound actuarial discipline in developing pricing strategies.
