Senior Acquisition Specialist- Aviation - Clearance Required

This role supports the OSW(Acquisition) Air Platforms and Weapons (APW) office at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, focusing on mission engineering, acquisition, high-level engagement, and oversight for air platforms and weapons, particularly the F-35 Lightning II aircraft.
About the role
This onsite position requires providing a broad range of support to Government clients, including developing executive-level briefings, coordinating acquisition actions, and ensuring senior leadership is informed with comprehensive, integrated appraisals of the portfolio. The candidate will work independently and collaboratively, supporting client meetings and engagements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead executive-level briefings within OSW and the Services.
- Work with Service acquisition offices to address recurring information requests from ASD(A), US W(A&S), and other OSW principals, coordinating actions on assigned programs.
- Review reports, studies, and analyses, preparing observations and recommendations for senior DoW leadership.
- Produce executive-level forums, presentations, and point papers.
- Route draft documents, coordinate comment resolution, and incorporate feedback into final versions.
- Review key acquisition documents, providing objective assessments of content, adherence to statute, and application of best practices.
- Coordinate with OUSW(A&S), OSW, and Joint Staff stakeholders for acquisition and sustainment decisions.
- Schedule and manage products for recurring senior leader meetings and acquisition decision forums.
- Maintain lists of Points of Contact in the Services for the APW portfolio and programs.
- Maintain communication with US Services requirements officers on fleet requirements and integration across topics.
- Assist in obtaining analytical products supporting formal requirements documents and acquisition strategies.
- Prepare correspondence packages and responses to APW portfolio-specific taskers, including Congressional reports, GAO, DoW IG, and other required communications.
- Support and comply with various activities, including required training, special projects, proposals, and data calls.
- Represent DASW(PWPM) in bi-weekly forums, providing status updates on the Financial Improvement Audit Readiness Corrective Action Program.
- Provide ongoing staff coordination between OUSW A&S, Industrial Base Policy (IBP), and the F-35 Joint Program Office regarding CFIUS notifications.
Requirements
- Top Secret (SCI Eligible) Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years of experience communicating with senior leaders within the DoD.
- 5+ years of DoD acquisition program support.
- 5+ years of air warfare subject matter expertise, including knowledge of DoD air warfare technology, systems engineering, and operational capabilities.
- Ability to navigate competing interests using tact, negotiation skills, problem-solving, and resilience to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience with the F-35 Lightning Program.
- DAWIA (or industry equivalent) certification in program management, contracting, or systems engineering.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for reviewing and implementing policies and guidance.
- Experience conducting critical qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for producing executive-level briefing materials, presentations, and point papers.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience using electronic business tools to facilitate staffing and assist senior leader decision-making.
- Experience serving on a Service acquisition headquarters or program office staff performing program management, contracting, or systems engineering on major weapon system programs.
- Experience planning, organizing, and managing medium and large-scale aviation events and conferences for executive-level DoD stakeholders, international partners, and industry executives.
Pay
Target salary range: $130,000–$180,000. Individual salaries are determined by factors including location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.
