About the role
CGS is seeking a Senior Accounting Technician to support the mission of a large federal agency. The position involves managing accounts payable, reimbursement activity, collections, and account oversight.
Responsibilities
- Adjust payroll/labor transactions via re-org processing.
- Process federal government travel in accordance with policies and regulations.
- Verify, analyze, and maintain financial information used by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller.
- Use various electronic software and databases to analyze complex data sets.
- Use various software packages, databases, and online resources to record and retrieve financial data.
- Track expenditures of multiple accounts using a financial management system.
- Generate and reconcile financial reports and documentation.
- Support other sections of DOJ in UFMS transaction processing and resolve system errors.
- Compose and disseminate correspondence, prepare forms and financial documents, manage databases, maintain office files, route paperwork, schedule meetings, and assist with web conferences.
- Perform other duties as assigned or on initiative.
- Contribute to team efforts, as needed.
Requirements
- Two-year degree in accounting or four-year degree in a related field (finance, business, banking, or economics) with 30 credit hours in accounting.
- Knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems used by banking, financial, and other institutions.
- Experience working with commitments, obligations, and interagency reimbursement agreements.
- Experience with the quarterly review, accrual, and closeout process.
- Ability to provide analysis and technical support for a variety of financial activities.
- Ability to identify and analyze changes in budgetary and/or financial activities.
- Ability to research and analyze financial data.
- US Citizenship.
Qualifications
- UFSM, JEDI, SAFARI, E-2, and Excel proficiency.

Pay
$70,166.35 - $87,628.15 annual
