Senior Accounting Technician
About the role
The Senior Accounting Technician position at CGS involves managing accounts payable, reimbursement activity, collections, and account oversight. This role supports the mission of a large federal agency and requires a combination of manual and automated accounting systems.
Responsibilities
- Adjust payroll/labor transactions via re-org processing
- Process federal government travel in accordance with policies and regulations
- Verify, analyze, and maintain financial information used by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller
- Use various electronic software and databases, such as UFMS, JEDI and JEDI-2, SAFARI, E-2, and SAMS.gov, to analyze complex data sets
- Record and retrieve financial data using various software packages, databases, and online resources
- Track expenditures of multiple accounts using a financial management system
- Generate reconciliation reports from a financial management system and reconcile financial books/reports weekly
- Prepare financial reports and documentation for review and signature by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller
- Aid and support other sections of DOJ in UFMS transaction processing and resolve system errors
- Compose memorandums and letters to outside vendors and agencies as needed
- Disseminate correspondence, prepare forms and financial documents, manage databases, maintain office files, route paperwork, schedule web conferences, prepare meeting rooms, and assist with office events
- Contribute to team efforts as needed
Qualifications
- Two-year degree in accounting or four-year degree in a related field (finance, business, banking, or economics) with 30 credit hours in accounting
- Experience working with manual and automated accounting systems used by banking, financial, and other institutions
- Experience working with commitments, obligations, and interagency reimbursement agreements
- Experience with the quarterly review, accrual, and closeout process
- Ability to provide analysis and technical support for a variety of financial activities
- Ability to identify and analyze changes in budgetary and/or financial activities
- Ability to research and analyze financial data
- US Citizenship
- Public Trust Clearance (ideally)
- UFSM, JEDI, SAFARI, E-2, and Excel proficiency
- Budgeting cycle management
- Accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) management and processing
- Reimbursable agreements analysis and management
- Obligations processing and committed funds tracking
- Cash flow analysis
- Statistical analysis
