About the role

The Senior Accounting Technician position at CGS involves managing accounts payable, reimbursement activity, collections, and account oversight. This role supports the mission of a large federal agency and requires a combination of manual and automated accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust payroll/labor transactions via re-org processing
  • Process federal government travel in accordance with policies and regulations
  • Verify, analyze, and maintain financial information used by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller
  • Use various electronic software and databases, such as UFMS, JEDI and JEDI-2, SAFARI, E-2, and SAMS.gov, to analyze complex data sets
  • Record and retrieve financial data using various software packages, databases, and online resources
  • Track expenditures of multiple accounts using a financial management system
  • Generate reconciliation reports from a financial management system and reconcile financial books/reports weekly
  • Prepare financial reports and documentation for review and signature by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller
  • Aid and support other sections of the DOJ in UFMS transaction processing and resolve system errors
  • Compose memorandums and letters to outside vendors and agencies as needed
  • Compose and disseminate correspondence, prepare forms and financial documents, manage databases, maintain office files, route paperwork, schedule and assist with web conferences, prepare meeting room and office events
  • Perform other duties as assigned or on initiative

Qualifications

  • Two-year degree in accounting or four-year degree in a related field (finance, business, banking, or economics) with 30 credit hours in accounting
  • Knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems used by banking, financial, and other institutions
  • Experience working with commitments, obligations, and interagency reimbursement agreements
  • Experience with the quarterly review, accrual, and closeout process
  • Ability to provide analysis and technical support for a variety of financial activities
  • Ability to identify and analyze changes in budgetary and/or financial activities
  • Ability to research and analyze financial data
  • US Citizenship
