About the role
Under the general direction of the Tax Administrator I/II, the Sr. Accounting Officer Specialist (SAO Specialist) performs the more difficult professional program accounting work and complex monetary eligibility determinations and adjustments related to Claims Processing and Benefit Payment Control activities. These include fraud prevention and detection, establishment of overpayments, employer and claimant assistance, and maintenance of employer and claimant accounts to ensure the integrity of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Trust Fund.
Responsibilities
- Utilize a variety of databases, analyze information from a variety of Federal, State and Departmental sources and make the most complex determinations and adjustments as related to the Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Disability Insurance (DI) programs.
- Perform a variety of analytical, administrative, and technical functions critical to the daily operations of the section.
- Prepare status reports, establish and analyze performance measures, and perform quality review.
- Analyze legislative bills for their impact on the operations.
- Remain flexible and adaptable to frequent workload changes based on organizational workload priorities.
Pay
- $6,031.00 - $7,547.00 A (New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable).
- Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month.
Schedule
- 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
- Hybrid work schedule (amount of telework at department discretion and subject to change)
Requirements
- Position exists in Sacramento County.
- Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available).
- Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered.
