About the role
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking a Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) or an Accounting Officer (Specialist) to perform professional and technical accounting duties in the establishment, maintenance, research, and analysis of accounts and financial records for the Daily Revenue Section. This position requires an understanding of the entire accounting process and accounting system, with considerable contacts made with field offices, the Budget Section, Cashiers Section, the State Controller's Office, the State Treasurer's Office, the California State Auditor, and various State Departments. The Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) may serve as a lead for lower level accounting personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex professional and technical accounting duties (Senior level) or professional and technical accounting duties of average difficulty (Accounting Officer level) in the establishment, maintenance, research, and analysis of accounts and financial records
- Maintain and analyze financial records for the Daily Revenue Section
- Make contacts with field offices, the Budget Section, Cashiers Section, the State Controller's Office, the State Treasurer's Office, the California State Auditor, and various State Departments
- Serve as a lead for lower level accounting personnel (Senior level)
Pay
- Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist): $6,031.00 – $7,547.00 A
- Accounting Officer (Specialist): $5,266.00 – $6,591.00 A
Schedule
- Permanent, Full Time
- Hybrid (telework available for eligible candidates residing in California; staff must report to the office a minimum number of days per week; schedules subject to change)
- Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all CDTFA salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California's Personal Leave Program

Qualifications
- Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility
- Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered
- Must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification
- Must successfully pass a background investigation and be fingerprinted
