Senior Accounting & Finance Advisory Consultant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced consultant to support client engagements working with state, county, local city, or school district entities. This opportunity is ideal for a professional who has previously worked in a public entity, likely in a Controller or Accounting Manager role, and who enjoys hands-on, high-impact project work. These assignments will likely last 2-3 months.

Responsibilities

• Audit readiness and external auditor support
• Clean-up of balance sheet accounts, historical reconciliations, and accounting backlogs
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
• GASB compliance
• Assist with month-end close, financial reporting, and audits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience
• Experience working with state, county, local city, or school district entities
• Previous experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller in the target public entities
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GASB standards, and core accounting principles
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous or evolving environments
• Advanced Excel skills
