We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accounting Coordinator at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, Illinois, office. This is a hybrid position onsite (Tuesday & Thursday) at our Evanston, IL office.

About the role

The Senior Accounting Coordinator supports finance operations by processing transactions, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, maintaining documentation, and assisting with audit and close activities. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and sound judgment to ensure accounting activities are completed efficiently and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations by accurately processing invoices, payments, journal entries, and other transactions.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account analysis, documentation, and follow-up on open items.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate reconciling items, and coordinate resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to resolve accounting questions, support financial compliance, and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Workday, Workiva) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of directly related experience.

Pay

Salary range: $50,578.00–$69,544.75

Schedule

Hybrid position onsite (Tuesday & Thursday) at our Evanston, IL office.
