About the role
This is a senior-level professional accounting position responsible for the design, modification, and/or implementation of new or existing accounting procedures and business office systems. The role involves performing complex accounting operations within a unit and may include supervising Accountants, Junior Accountants, and clerical employees. The employee reports to an Associate Accountant or higher-level staff member with latitude for independent judgment.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex accounting operations of a unit.
- Design, modify, and implement accounting procedures and business office systems.
- Provide general supervision to Accountants, Junior Accountants, and clerical employees.
- Complete related work as required.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus one of the following:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting plus two years of paid full-time (or part-time equivalent) professional experience in auditing or accounting; or
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration that includes at least fifteen semester credit hours in accounting, plus three years of paid full-time (or part-time equivalent) professional experience in auditing or accounting; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined above.
Note: Professional experience in auditing or accounting does not include account keeping, bookkeeping, or other clerical financial or record-keeping activities.
Pay
$64,471 - $86,440 annually
