Senior Accountant (Investment)

Duties And Responsibilities

• Reconcile e-investment holdings and activity to supporting reports and custodial accounts.
• Accounting for the Company’s private investment portfolio including equity method investments in renewable energy and limited partnerships.
• Monthly close process – preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, review of trial balance, financial statement preparation including analytics.
• Prepare quarter-end financial reporting packages and schedules.
• Aid with the Company’s SEC filings and NAIC Statements.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and other special projects as needed.
• Adhere to Company internal controls and accounting policies.
• Provide client assistance as needed for internal and external audits.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of both GAAP and Statutory Accounting Standards.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Experience and education requirements vary based on the level of the position:
  • Staff Accountant: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, 2-3 years of relevant experience, CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Staff Accountant II: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related required, CPA designation strongly preferred, 5 years’ experience in corporate and/or public accountancy or finance roles.
  • Sr. Accountant: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related required, CPA designation strongly preferred, 2-3 years of hands-on accounting experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry.
