About the role
As a Senior Accountant, Insurance Accounting, you will play a key role in the planning and overseeing of the insurance underwriter (DAC) and other obligor/administrator accounting activities. Areas of responsibility include process improvement, quality assurance, and accounting/reporting operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the monthly financial close process for the internal underwriter, administrators, and obligors, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, and reviewing monthly entity financial results.
- Prepare financial reviews for client portfolio, prepare and/or review journal entries, and provide analysis and insights on sales trends to Management.
- Perform client relationship support and engagement, including monthly surplus disbursements and other trust reimbursements.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliation and assist Manager with resolution of problem accounts and/or reconciling items.
- Aid in the development and reporting of relevant KPIs and metrics to optimize the performance and success of the team.
- Continue to focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls and governance to uphold operational effectiveness.
- Aid in the facilitation of seamless collaboration with auditors, both internal and external, ensuring timely and comprehensive responses to requests.
- Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed.
Requirements
- Known for managing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Outstanding analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP.
- Experience in financial systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Blackline, and Great Plains.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting.
Qualifications
- Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
