Position Details

We are seeking a high-energy Senior Accountant to join a rapidly growing company. Under the direction of the Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for handling various aspects of Carvana's income taxes, providing accurate, timely preparation and reporting of key financial schedules and key financial statements.

  • Prepare/review federal and state income tax returns including detail support and calculations for Partnership and Corporate return compliance including multistate apportionment.
  • Prepare income tax extensions and estimated tax payment calculations.
  • Aid with preparation of income tax provision under ASC 740 and related work papers.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Aid with taxable income projections and forecasts.
  • Aid with Unclaimed Property reporting and compliance process.
  • Manage and review tax fixed assets schedules and depreciation calculations.
  • Conduct tax research on federal and state tax issues and prepare written documentation.
  • Aid the tax department with written documentation of tax policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal business units including Treasury, Legal, Accounting, and other corporate functions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial data and support tax audits or notices.
  • Perform other work-related tasks/ad-hoc reporting as needed.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years tax accounting experience with private industry and/or public accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Experience with tax research tools RIA Checkpoint, BNA and/or CCH.
  • Strong understanding of Tax and GAAP accounting principles.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly in Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with strong ability to gather, organize and solve problems using data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax.
  • Partnership and/or Corporation tax experience.
  • GAAP.
  • Experience with Alteryx.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion and/or Oracle tax fixed assets.
