About the Role
The role of Senior Accountant exists to manage financial records, processes, and analyses to drive financial compliance and afford strategic decision making. The job helps the accounting team to provide timely and accurate financial information to the company by analyzing data and transactions, preparing journal entries, and performing account reconciliations. This is a hybrid position requiring in-office presence three days a week in Chicago (Tuesday-Thursday).
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly and fiscal year-end close activities by completing timely and accurate journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, general ledgers, and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Own and perform account and bank statement reconciliations. Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets, as well as forecasting future expenditures.
- Support a variety of external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
- May lead the accounts payable process to ensure proper coding and receipt of all invoices.
- Continually seek and implement opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology and process improvements.
- Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in accounting.
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting.
- Strong technical accounting skills and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Able to manage a high volume of tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal and external contacts.
- Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), standards, and regulations.

Pay
This is a full-time, exempt position with a base compensation range of $90,000–$110,000 annually, depending on level, candidate experience, skills, and other factors. This position is eligible for a 7.5% bonus, with a total compensation range of $96,750–$118,250.
