Responsibilities

  • Record and reverse monthly accrual entries for affiliated entities.
  • Review, reconcile, and analyze subsidiary ledgers, including Accounts Payable and Rent Receivable, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Review monthly rent rolls and reconcile tenant rental income and subsidy revenue to the general ledger.
  • Maintain the lease accounting database and record monthly lease-related journal entries.
  • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet and expense accounts in accordance with ASC 842, ensuring agreement between the general ledger and lease accounting system reports.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly schedules and rollforwards for prepaid expenses, prepaid insurance, deferred rent, and other assigned accounts.
  • Maintain loan payable accounts and prepare related debt schedules, amortization schedules, and rollforwards.
  • Record, monitor, and reconcile escrow and reserve account activity.
  • Review general ledger transactions to identify eligible reserve and escrow drawdowns and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures in accordance with established reporting deadlines.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare journal entries to accurately record transactions and adjustments in the general ledger.
  • Prepare and analyze trial balances and financial statements for lender, investor, and syndication reporting requirements.
  • Assist with annual financial statement audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and audit documentation.
  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Perform other accounting and financial reporting duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Familiarity with ASC 842 lease accounting and real estate-related transactions, including loans, escrow, and reserve accounts.
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting and property management software (Yardi experience a plus).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting audits and preparing financial reports for lenders, investors, and other stakeholders preferred.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing programs and nonprofit accounting is a plus.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm
Hybrid – 3 days in office
