What You’ll Do
- Own assigned areas of the month-end and quarter-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve variances, ensuring accurate cutoff and period recognition
- Use AI tools to identify anomalies, flag outliers across large data sets, and accelerate the close process
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger in Sage Intacct
- Serve as a key contributor to external audit support, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and documentation
- Leverage AI to automate data gathering, accelerate report generation, and ensure consistency across reporting outputs
- Utilize AI to efficiently organize audit support, draft first-pass responses, and improve audit turnaround time while ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation to support audit readiness year-round
- Review AP activity and expense postings flowing from integrated systems (e.g., Routable, Concur) into Sage Intacct
- Apply AI-assisted reviews to flag unusual spend patterns, coding inconsistencies, or policy exceptions
- Ensure expenses are properly coded, approved, and recorded in accordance with company policy and GAAP
- Partner with accounting assistants to resolve issues related to vendors, coding, and approvals
- Maintain consistency and accuracy in account mappings, classifications, and reporting structures
- Apply AI tools and prompt engineering techniques to automate repetitive accounting workflows, such as data extraction, reconciliation matching, and variance analysis
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve controls, and enhance reporting — including evaluating and implementing AI-powered solutions
- Support finance leadership with system enhancements, integrations, and best practices, including exploring and piloting AI-driven automation opportunities
- Actively contribute to expanding the team’s AI fluency by sharing effective prompts, workflows, and approaches that improve team-wide efficiency
- Work on multiple priorities concurrently, communicating proactively when unable to meet timelines
- Collaborate with team to execute projects and meet deadlines
- Ensure work is of the highest quality and instills confidence across finance leadership and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements
What You Must Have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes
- Hands-on experience with a mid-market ERP system (Sage Intacct strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines
- Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) and a demonstrated ability to write effective prompts to streamline accounting and finance tasks — active, confident AI use is expected in this role
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
