Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Aid in the preparation of all financial filings with the SEC, including quarterly, annual, and transaction-specific reports.
- Conduct technical accounting research and provide interpretations of ambiguous and complex accounting literature, collaborating with accounting and finance personnel during the review and analysis of significant and highly complex business transactions.
- Stay updated on internal and external developments affecting organizational accounting and reporting, preparing management summaries and contributing to formal comments to relevant standard-setting or regulatory bodies.
- Support SOX compliance efforts by maintaining appropriate documentation and testing controls.
- Prepare financial statement preparation for Summit Midstream Corporation’s non-public entities.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate efficient audit, review, and comfort processes.
- Interpret and summarize the organizational accounting impact of existing, proposed, and finalized accounting pronouncements.
- Communicate accounting policies and positions to senior management and external auditors, both verbally and in writing.
- Engage with senior management and other business units to develop and implement recommendations that enhance accounting policies and controls.
- Evaluate departmental processes and recommend process improvements.
- Handle ad hoc projects and research assignments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 4-5 years of professional, job-related experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- Experience with public company reporting
- Experience in public accounting
- Experience with FERC reporting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- SEC reporting and research experience
- Strong technical accounting research skills
- Ability to act as a managerial advisor on professional and technical issues
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking with limited supervision
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to challenge or disagree appropriately
- Proven ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Effective interaction with all levels of management and staff
