Role Summary The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring an accurate and timely month-end close, reporting directly to the Corporate Accounting Manager or Supervisor. This position partners closely with the Controller and Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for advanced accounting activities related to affordable housing multi-family limited partnerships, including executing critical internal controls, maintaining GAAP compliance, and driving process improvements across Corporate Accounting. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and managing or collaborating with an offshore accounting team based in India. What You'll Do Perform and review journal entries, account reconciliations, SOX internal control procedures, and financial reportingReview and analyze monthly financial packages from third-party property management companies (PMCOs) for completeness and accuracyProvide oversight and guidance to PMCOs to ensure GAAP compliance and data integritySupport accounting for capital transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, refinances, and resyndicationsReview loan draw packages for resyndicated properties to ensure activities are coded to the correct projects and G/L accountsPrepare and review consolidation and elimination entries in accordance with accounting standardsAnalyze month-over-month and actual-to-budget variances for balance sheet and income statement activityReview annual audited financial statements for limited partnerships and coordinate with external auditorsPrepare and review GAAP disclosures for the company's audited financial statementsIdentify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and lead implementation of improvementsGather documentation and prepare responses for internal and external audit requestsManage, train, and support remote accounting team members in IndiaMaintain and update standard operating procedures for key accounting processes Required Qualifications Proven experience as a Senior Accountant with a track record of strong team and business resultsBA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or BusinessMinimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience in both industry and public accountingStrong knowledge of GAAP, including consolidations and real estate accountingAdvanced proficiency in Excel Preferred Qualifications CPA preferredExperience in real estate or investment accounting strongly preferredBig 4 public accounting experience is a plusExperience with Yardi, FAS, and real-estate-related systems preferred Compensation $115K–$130K Benefits Health insurance coverage, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
