Senior Accountant / Controller

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee financial reporting, payroll, and day-to-day accounting functions across its project portfolio. Construction industry experience is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with Paylocity HRIS.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of accounts receivable processes, including monitoring and reporting on A/R aging
• Reconciliation of key accounts and resolution of discrepancies in a timely manner
• Weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with federal and state regulations
• Posting payroll entries to the general ledger and applying appropriate job cost allocations
• Maintaining payroll records, including timesheets and deductions, and reconciling payroll accounts
• Ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Supporting the CFO with monthly financial reporting
• Providing accounting and reporting support for company subsidiaries
• Collaborating with the broader accounting team to balance workload and provide backup support as needed

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience; construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Paylocity HRIS experience strongly preferred
• Strong grasp of GAAP and core accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting software; Viewpoint Spectrum a plus
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage tight deadlines
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
