Senior Accountant (Contract)

About the Role
As a Senior Accountant (Contractor), you'll play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting processes. You'll take ownership of critical areas of the monthly close, serve as a trusted partner in compensation-related accounting activities, and help strengthen the foundation of our General Ledger operations. Working closely with the Controller, you'll drive process improvements, execute and enhance financial controls, and contribute to projects that support scalability as we continue to grow. Your work will directly influence the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of our accounting operations.
Responsibilities
- Own designated areas of the monthly close process, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting.
- Assist with all aspects of General Ledger maintenance, including reviewing and approving journal entries, conducting account analysis, and ensuring the accuracy of supporting documentation.
- Serve as a key stakeholder for compensation-related accounting activities, including analysis, reporting, and coordination with cross-functional partners.
- Prepare, review, and maintain account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and ensuring the integrity of financial data.
- Identify opportunities to improve month-end close processes and implement solutions that increase efficiency and scalability.
- Execute and continuously refine newly implemented controls to strengthen compliance, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
- Partner with Finance and other business teams to support accounting projects, assist with FP&A financial planning, process enhancements, and evolving business initiatives.
- Collaborate with auditors to ensure the timely completion of yearly audits.
- Collaborate on accounts receivable, including collections, reconciliations, customer setups, invoicing, and payment applications.
- Collaborate on accounts payable, including billing, payment processing, and vendor setups.
- Review AP and publisher payment runs, and create necessary bank wires or transfers to complete payments.
- Oversee 1099 reporting.
- Compile monthly financial reporting packages and assist with regulatory reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced and high-growth environment.
- Strong knowledge of General Ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Experience with NetSuite, and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Hands-on experience using AI-enabled tools in daily accounting tasks, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Schedule
This role follows a hybrid schedule with a minimum requirement of being in the Boulder, CO office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Pay
Rate: $60 - $85 an hour, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
Contract Length
6-7 month, 1099 contract position.
