About the role

The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in the financial operations of specific brands within Artisanal Brewing Ventures (ABV), a top 10 regional craft alcohol company. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position is responsible for the financial closing process and day-to-day accounting activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations in conjunction with the month-end close process.
  • Aid in the accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.
  • Perform detailed account analysis and general ledger account roll forwards.
  • Prepare management reports and provide variance analysis of results on a monthly basis.
  • Review areas within the general ledger for accuracy of reporting and GAAP/regulatory compliance.
  • Support operations in analyzing and reporting of financial information.
  • Investigate and work with taproom management to resolve accounting and inventory discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Aid in the preparation of accurate federal and state beer excise and sales tax returns.
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a daily transactional basis.
  • Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including posting invoices, making vendor payments, applying customer payments, and preparing deposits.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Contribute to the automation of the accounting and reporting process.
  • Perform other general accounting and month-end close duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in industry accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • PC skills including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel modeling.
  • Proficient use of automated general ledger systems and reporting tools (SAP, Orchestrated BEER) a plus.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and inventory control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of federal and state beverage industry regulations and reporting requirements a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet required deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills, both internal and external, across all levels.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state beverage industry regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with SAP and Orchestrated BEER.
