About the role
Orbis is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant & Billing Specialist to support our growing team in the Finance Department. The ideal candidate must have DELTEK experience and be local to the Washington, DC Metro Area.
Responsibilities
- Supports the close process as needed to ensure timeline is met, including duties such as depreciation and amortization entries, miscellaneous accruals, interest calculation and entries, bi-monthly labor, benefit and payroll postings, and monthly bank, debt, balance sheet, revenue, and other account reconciliations and adjustments
- Accounts Receivable processing
- Sets up and modifies projects and employees in the accounting system based on contract documentation and information provided by the Project Finance Manager
- Recording and reconciling project team managed billings in the accounting system, reconciling, and resolving variances under the leadership of the Project Finance Manager
- Attending to AR related queries
- Support of annual financial audits, diligence, and other financial evidence collection requests
- Maintains accessible and audit ready documentation for responsible areas
- Gathers, reviews, submissions, and can explain documentation to external auditors
- Maintains strong familiarity with Orbis Policies and procedures
- Backup for critical functions assigned to others on Accounting Team
- Contributes to other Special Finance/Accounting initiatives as time permits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting/finance, at least 3 years in government contracting
- Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite
- 2+ years of recent experience using Costpoint/Deltek
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
- Pays strict attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings. Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region.
