Senior Accountant / Bilingual Japanese

Our client is a major global systems integrator and IT services company providing technology consulting and business solutions to a wide range of corporate clients. Services include IT consulting, digital transformation, data analytics, artificial intelligence, enterprise systems, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, IT outsourcing, and technology solutions for the financial services industry.

About the role

The Senior Accountant will serve as a senior individual contributor within the Accounting Department and report to the Head of Accounting. This position will independently manage assigned accounting responsibilities while also supporting operational guidance, review, cross-training, and knowledge sharing within the accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage and support day-to-day corporate accounting operations.
• Perform month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
• Maintain, review, and reconcile General Ledger accounts.
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Process and support payroll-related accounting activities.
• Handle accounting related to employee benefits.
• Support tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage cash flow, treasury, and cash management activities.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Prepare management reports and financial reporting for overseas headquarters.
• Strengthen internal controls and support compliance initiatives.
• Identify accounting and operational process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide accounting guidance, cross-training, and knowledge sharing to other team members as needed.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Accounting major preferred.
• 3–5 years of progressive professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles and practices.
• Hands-on experience with month-end financial close processes.
• Experience with account reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Experience using SAP or another major ERP/accounting system.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
• Understanding of internal controls, risk mitigation, and accounting process improvement.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
• Strong ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments.

Skills

• Professional-level English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
• Professional-level Japanese communication skills, both written and verbal, are required for communication and financial reporting with overseas management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

CPA certification is preferred.

Pay

New York: $80,000–$90,000 annually
Texas: $65,000–$75,000 annually

Actual compensation will depend on job-related factors including professional experience, qualifications, education, training, and technical skills.
