About the role
ASSYST is seeking a professional Accountant/Auditor to support accounting and auditing activities, with a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles for governmental accounting, including GASB and/or FASB standards and statements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare analyses of financial reports and provide recommendations based on the findings.
- Perform detailed analysis of assigned funds and sub-funds.
- Perform complex reconciliations of General Ledger accounts within Oracle and across multiple systems.
- Prepare supporting work papers for adjusting journal entries.
- Support financial statement preparation and related accounting activities.
- Apply governmental accounting principles, GASB and/or FASB standards, and statements in assigned work.
- Work effectively with integrated accounting systems and meet established deadlines.
- Utilize Oracle ERP, Excel, and other current technologies to perform accounting and auditing activities.
Requirements
- Previous professional experience working as an Accountant or Auditor.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for governmental accounting.
- Thorough understanding of GASB and/or FASB standards and statements.
- Proficiency with Oracle ERP accounting systems.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience performing complex reconciliations involving transactions across multiple systems.
- Experience with integrated accounting systems.
- Experience with financial statement preparation.
- Ability to analyze financial information and prepare supporting documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of MUNIS, Crystal Reports, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.
- Relevant job-related credentials or certifications may be considered, with supporting documentation required.
