Senior Accountant

Essential Functions

• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by the accounting team to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Identify discrepancies, research accounting issues, and implement corrective actions before financial information is finalized.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities for a multi-location retail and wholesale business.
• Prepare and review general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Cook up the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Mentor, coach, and provide day-to-day guidance to a small accounting team.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and other accounting functions as needed.
• Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
• Utilize NetSuite and other accounting systems to improve reporting and streamline workflows.
• Partner with leadership by providing timely and accurate financial information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, training, and review of a small accounting team consisting of approximately two to three employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 3-5 years of progressive financial accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Experience independently managing month-end close and preparing financial statements.
• Experience reviewing the work of others, mentoring team members, or leading accounting projects.
• Experience identifying accounting discrepancies and resolving complex reconciliation issues.
• ERP accounting software experience required; NetSuite experience is highly desirable.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate financial information.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Retail, wholesale, or multi-location accounting experience.
• Experience improving accounting processes and implementing efficiencies.
• Familiarity with POS systems and integration with accounting platforms is a plus.
