Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant supports the Corporate Controller in the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization and leads the month-end closing and financial statement creation process. This role provides daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting, assists in developing financial plans and forecasts, and analyzes operational results. The Senior Accountant supervises the payroll/AR specialist, guides the AP specialist, and serves as a key partner to managers and project managers across the organization. This position is hands-on, requires expertise in Excel, and involves becoming a power-user of our new Epicor ERP system to optimize accounting and finance functions. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who enjoys troubleshooting and improving processes, works independently, and meets deadlines with a high level of pride in their work product.

This is a part-time role, approximately 20-25 hours per week, with flexibility for longer hours during the first two weeks of the month and fewer hours in the last two weeks. The position offers potential to transition into a full-time role.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the month-end close process, including calculation/posting of journal entries and maintaining workpapers
• Create key account reconciliations monthly
• Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
• Oversee payroll and serve as backup for payroll processing as needed; review and post payroll entries
• Serve as the ERP financial area expert and help resolve issues with third-party benefit administrators
• Maintain fixed asset schedules
• Provide reporting and analysis to the organization as needed
• Assist in year-end tax and audit work as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller

Requirements

• BA or BS in Accounting
• CPA or MBA preferred, but not required
• 2-3 years’ experience in public accounting
• 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing firm, responsible for full-cycle accounting and month-end close
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros)
• Payroll oversight or administration experience preferred
• ERP experience (Epicor ERP experience highly desired, but not required)
• POC-based manufacturing experience or knowledge desired
